General

In 2011, there were 167,500 main telephone lines in use in Macau. The number of mobile cellular telephones was growing rapidly, reaching 1.1 million in 2010.

With the fact that radio signals from Hong Kong are available in Macau, the local media are always a minority group in terms of sales and number of viewers. Macau has three radio stations (one FM and two FM) and two television stations.

Macau's internet service was to be opened to applicants in October 2000, having formerly been a monopoly owned by Macau Telecom.
